Apple Cinnamon Tea for Grounding in Vata Season

When the outside weather is windy, cold and dry we need warm, cozy and peaceful to balance our inner selves.

The external factors have an effect on how we feel, and we can feel this in our bodies and minds. This autumn/winter season is called Vata in Ayurveda, and carries with it the qualities of air. To balance it out and feel more grounded and less “up in the air” try drinking some warm herbal tea.

This apple cinnamon blend is the perfect drink to warm the soul with it’s fragrant aroma and delicious taste :)

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of water

  • 1 sweet apple (chopped or sliced)

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1–2 teaspoons of chamomile tea leaves

  • Honey to taste

  • *Optional sprinkle of cloves can be added to the brew

  1. Boil the water with the cinnamon sticks, and tea leaves for about 5 minutes

  2. Add the chopped apples and simmer for another 3 minutes

  3. Cover and let the mixture steep off the heat for 5 minutes

  4. Strain into a mug, stir in a touch of honey and enjoy warm

Before drinking take a moment to feel the warmth of the mug, smell the aroma of the tea blend and enjoy the moment. Then drink in sips of calm.

Best enjoyed with a good book, a cookie and/or good company :)
