Energize and Grow with Green Tea
April is a time when everything around us begins to turn green again, and we find that renewed energy and new mindset of spring. Green tea embodies those qualities as it energizes us for the season!
Green tea has long been toted to have many health benefits including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, improved brain and memory function, and some studies show it’s ability to improve metabolism and lower cholesterol.
It has a natural caffeine content that is easy to metabolize and makes you feel calm, clear headed and ready for the day ahead without any crash or jitters.
It can have a bitter, astringent taste, so don’t steep it for too long (no more than 2 minutes). I like to add mint leaves and a squeeze of lime juice in the spring for a yummy energizing flavor. To aid with digestion I recommend drinking it hot, but it can also be served cold. As a cold refreshing tonic I love to bring it with me on hot days to stay hydrated.
There are different kinds, but my favorite is the classic Chinese green tea. Some people like the mixture of Jasmine and Green tea, or Oolong and Green, so feel free to experiment and find what your palette prefers. This is your blend after all :)
Lets embrace the season of growth and energy with this delicious tea blend!
To Make a Batch/Pot of tea:
Bring water to boil and add 8 teaspoons of dried Green tea leaves. Steep for 1-2 minutes.
Add in a sprig of mint leaves and a squeeze of lime juice to taste. (for this size batch I like 1/4 of a lime)
If serving cold, set this mixture in the fridge for a few hours before drinking.
Enjoy the spring enegy!
